Welcome to Polka Dot Races

Hi, I’m Kerry, the person behind Polka Dot Races. I’ve been running for years, love planning events, and have a complicated relationship with 6am alarm clocks. Ironic, considering most racing events start at the crack of the dawn.

Polka Dot Races started because I wanted running to feel different, inclusive and accessible, less intimidating, and a lot of fun. The kind of event where fancy dress is encouraged, walking counts, and your finish time matters less than whether you enjoyed it.

Whether you’re joining us in person or doing a virtual challenge from wherever you are, the point is just that you’re moving.

Some days running feels incredible and is my passion, other days, not so much, its my achilles heel but that’s normal and I am sure I am not alone.

Meet the Team, it really is a family affair including the Dog

While I handle most of the planning and organising, I am lucky to be surround by such a supportive network, it is a family affair. My sister, husband, and nephew all pitch in on race days. Mum and my aunty turn up to cheer, which always lifts everyone.

Then of course there is Merlot, our doggy mascot, he’s brilliant at accepting treats, looking adorable in photos, and providing general moral support. Genuinely better at his job than most of us.

This blog will be running advice, stories from our community, race updates, behind the scenes chaos, and the occasional challenge and of course regular updates about Merlot

Whether you’re training for your first 5K or you’ve stopped counting races, this space is for you. Polka Dot Races is all about creating experiences that make you smile, keep you moving, and remind you that running doesn’t have to be serious (unless you want it to be)
